Using technology makes us save time, share data, and give more motivation. Students can enjoy activities and enhance their self learning. However, there is a consideration of fair use of technology. If we do not know the clear guideline as a teacher, students may choose easy ways to get some data even though it is not fair. Students are mirror of our teaching style. Their improvement is also affected bythe way of thinking. So, as a christian teacher, we should consider the honesty first. Teach them the way of honesty and courtesy in using data. I want them to know this is same in the class activities, too. Ethical issues: fair use, keep privacy, do not hurt other in free speech, and do not try piracy. These all should be considered by teachers and these should betaught them at the beginning time.

I reminded teacher’s responsibility when I saw the web site of Khan Academy. He showed his love and passion about education in this website. I appreciate his passion to help others. It reminds me to educate students to be a useful person, an unselfich person, and a person who has a dream. In this class, I really experienced in this class students can learn and improve skills through authentic project.

Teachers always concern students in planning stage: students’ needs, interest, motivation and background. To build student’s own learning is the main goal of teaching. An important component of constructivist theory is to focus a child’s education on authentic tasks. Teachers give project as portfolio. Students can select important things and include it. They can improve their critical thinking through this sorting process.

Technology, can, however, be used effectively in many ways, some of which are described in this paper. Barr’s (1990) five goals essential to meaningful educational reform apply here. He states that learning should be more:

independent

individualized

interactive

interdisciplinary, and

intuitive.

If you are interested in integrating technology in constructivive classroom, see this articles: http://delta.cs.vt.edu/edu/fis/techcons.html

2. The role of teacher is important in technology enhanced education. This is from http://ejite.isu.edu/Volume2No1/nanjappa.htm

The Role of the Teacher in Technology Enhanced Environments

The role of the teacher as a facilitator is seen as most important in a constructivist context (Witfelt, 2000; Richards, 1998). Within a constructivist classroom, the teacher engenders social and intellectual climates, where collaborative and cooperative learning methods are supported. In parallel, technology-enhanced classrooms tap constructivist strategies (Jonassen, 1999), arranging problem-based projects where students actively construct knowledge, linking knew knowledge with previous knowledge.

In non-traditional classrooms such as the open/global classroom (Walker, 2000; Witfelt, 2000), the role and responsibilities of the teacher have changed. The teacher, as an agent, has to constantly update information and technology for making learning authentic and relevant. For example, while developing a course module for teachers and taxonomy for teacher competencies in the use of educational multimedia, Witfelt (2000) observed that it was important to combine several theories such as constructivism, postmodernism, situated intelligence and multiple intelligences. However, the theoretical framework would be constructivist in nature with the teacher assuming the role of the facilitator, providing an environment for spontaneous research, understanding the social and collaborative nature of learning, helping children construct knowledge and initiate problem-based, project-oriented work. With this transition in roles and responsibilities, Witfelt (2000) listed new teacher competencies in constructivist contexts that include supervisor qualifications, supporter and facilitator of students’ work, advisor and subject-matter expert, inspirer and encourager, arbiter at group discussions, critic in mobilizing greater effort when objectives are not being met, and evaluator to improve general learning capacities of students.

Step 1Make sure that the computer that you are going to use as the server computer is in good condition as it will be constantly turned on.Step 2Turn on the computer that you are going to set up as the server. Log in as the computer’s administrator. Step 3Join a workgroup. Do this by clicking on the “Start” button on the desktop. Select “Control Panel” from the menu and click “System and Maintenance”. A separate window will appear. Click “System”. A panel will appear with the settings for the Domain, Workgroup, and Computer Name. Step 4On the panel, click “Change Settings”. Select the “Computer Name” tab on the window and click “Change”. Step 5Locate the “Member of” window. Click on the “Workgroup” option and type the name of the workgroup that you want to join. Type “MSHOME” as Windows computers are already set up with a networking group named “MSHOME”. Reboot the computer and log in as the computer’s administrator.Step 6Configure the settings of the network by clicking on the “Start” button, choose “Control Panel”, and click on “Network and Internet”. Select “Set Up File Sharing”. A new window will appear. Select “Customize” and under the “Location Type”, select “Private”. Close the window.Step 7Configure the server computer’s settings by clicking on the “Start” button. Select “Control Panel” and choose “Network and Internet” from the icons. Select “Set Up File Sharing”. Locate the “Sharing and Discovery” panel and make sure that the option for network discovery is on. Step 8To enable the server computer to share files and printer access, go the “Set Up File Sharing” panel and choose “Turn On” for the following items: File Sharing, Printer Sharing, and Public Folder Sharing. Step 9The basic functions of a server can already be done by the computer. Check if the server works by trying to access files using a different computer.

Internet and intranet has similar spelling, but they are different. If you are confused them, let’s see together. These articles are helpful to understand the difference as a beginner or young children.

1. This is from http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_differences_between_Internet_and_Intranet_and_Extranet

There’s one major distinction between an intranet and the Internet: The Internet is an open, public space, while an intranet is designed to be a private space. An intranet may be accessible from the Internet, but as a rule it’s protected by a password and accessible only to employees or other authorized users.

From within a company, an intranet server may respond much more quickly than a typical Web site. This is because the public Internet is at the mercy of traffic spikes, server breakdowns and other problems that may slow the network. Within a company, however, users have much more bandwidth and network hardware may be more reliable. This makes it easier to serve high bandwidth content, such as audio and video, over an intranet.
2. this is from http://www.differencebetween.net/technology/difference-between-internet-and-intranet/

Difference Between Internet and Intranet

• Categorized under Technology, internet

In the information age that we live in today, the speed at which information can travel inside a company would often indicate the productivity of that company. It is often necessary to create an environment where the flow of data is unimpeded and the intended recipient gets it instantaneously. Computers make this possible and there are multiple ways to implement such a network.

An Intranet is a computer network that is designed to work like the internet but in a much smaller scale and is restricted only to the employees of the company. It is possible to run FTP, HTTP, and mail servers in the intranet that is independent and inaccessible from the internet without proper authorization. This allows the employees to send progress reports to their manager even when they cannot meet in person. Workers could also work collaboratively on a certain project while keeping their paperwork properly synchronized. It is often necessary to have access to the internet from within your intranet, which is why intranets are placed behind a firewall. Some companies even deploy two firewalls and place some services inside the DMZ in order to raise their security further.

An intranet, although very helpful, wouldn’t be very effective if it is totally removed from the internet. The internet is the massive network of computers from all around the world. It allows people to virtually any point in the world at a very minimal cost. Services like Email and VoIP has allowed many people to keep in touch despite geographical locations and time zones.

Being connected to the internet, a company can have their people in the field or those who are working at home to still be able to do what they would usually do when they are inside the office. They can connect to services inside the intranet and submit their work or contact their coworkers and superiors. They can even call online if their office supports IP-PABX systems.

// // <ins><ins></ins></ins>

The Intranet and the Internet are two domains that are very alike but are often segregated in order to maintain security. If properly configured and guarded, an Intranet that is connected to the Internet could raise your company’s productivity by leaps and bound; not to mention cutting down the cost of traditional communications. It could also open the door to malicious people who can do major damage or even steal confidential company data if done haphazardly. It should be up to the management to make sure that all precautions are taken.

We learned about the internet and intranet today. Group of computers are controled by a server. This server computer is a supercomputer which control subcomputers. These intranets are included in internet networking. Any computer will be a server which install with web server software. It is consisting to turn on 24 hours and connect to the internet. It has open ip adress as a domain. Security is an issue to protect their computer. The 3d animation was interesting to me. It was helpful to understanding how to work the internet. If a connections has a problem, the information will be disappeared. The proper way of useing is important in internet. Thanks you teachers.

Your respiratory system is made up of the organs in your body that help you to breathe. Remember, that Respiration = Breathing. The goal of breathing is to deliver oxygen to the body and to take away carbon dioxide.

The lungs are the main organs of the respiratory system. In the lungs oxygen is taken into the body and carbon dioxide is breathed out. The red blood cells are responsible for picking up the oxygen in the lungs and carrying the oxygen to all the body cells that need it. The red blood cells drop off the oxygen to the body cells, then pick up the carbon dioxide which is a waste gas product produced by our cells. The red blood cells transport the carbon dioxide back to the lungs and we breathe it out when we exhale.

Diaphragm
Breathing starts with a dome-shaped muscle at the bottom of the lungs called the diaphragm (DY-uh-fram). When you breathe in, the diaphragm contracts. When it contracts it flattens out and pulls downward. This movement enlarges the space that the lungs are in. This larger space pulls air into the lungs. When you breathe out, the diaphragm expands reducing the amount of space for the lungs and forcing air out. The diaphragm is the main muscle used in breathing.
Sneezing is like a cough in the upper breathing passages. It is the body’s way of removing an irritant from the sensitive mucous membranes of the nose. Many things can irritate the mucous membranes. Dust, pollen, pepper or even a cold blast of air are just some of the many things that may cause you to sneeze.

The diaphragm may get irritated, you may have eaten to fast, or maybe some substance in the blood could even have brought on the hiccups.

3. Protect your work by converting PowerPoint to flash.

By converting PowerPoint to flash, you can prevent others from editing your slides. You needn’t worry about the safety about your slideshow.

1. Convert PowerPoint to flash on presentation sharing website

www.slideshare.net , www.slideboom.com are good presentation sharing websites. You could upload your presentation to these websites, and then they will convert your presentation to Flash and share it on web. This is an ideal way to share the Flash presentation online, but you cannot download the Flash to your computer and there is limitation on the file size.

Convert PowerPoint to flash by Online file conversion

2. www.zamzar.com is a web application to convert files. It allows you to convert files without downloading a software tool. Users can type in a URL or upload file from their computer, Zamzar then converts the file(s) to specified format. You could upload the presentation you want to convert, select swf format and then input your email address to receive an email with a URL from where you can download the converted file.

However, it has the limitation on the file size and most of the animations in your PowerPoint will disappear.

3. Convert PowerPoint to flash with a third party tool

With a third party converter, it is much easier for you to handle the whole process. It is ok for you to import files with large size. // ]]>Note: June 2008. The following information is provided for historical reference. Use of the Adobe Flash Player ActiveX control as an embedded control inside other Windows applications is not a planned feature of Flash Player, is not tested by Adobe during the development process, and is not supported by Adobe Technical Support. Issues with these techniques should be discussed on the Adobe Support Forums with other developers.

Using Adobe Flash SWF in PowerPoint

Integrating a Flash SWF inside PowerPoint allows vector animation and interactivity to be added to a PowerPoint presentation. The information provided in this TechNote was tested with the Office 2000 version of Microsoft PowerPoint. Earlier and later versions may vary from the steps shown here.

Can it be done?

When viewing Flash content in Windows using Internet Explorer, Flash Player content is played using an ActiveX control. ActiveX is a Microsoft technology consisting of ‘controls’ that sit on top of a Windows subsystem called COM (Component Object Model). For detailed information on ActiveX controls see Microsoft’s ActiveX pages. All other browsers and platforms use the Flash Player Plugin, which use the parent browser’s plugin support rather than Microsoft’s COM system.

ActiveX controls are used to extend the abilities of Windows and Internet Explorer, adding features such as video playback, audio and Flash playback. Each control handles a specific type of functionality. When a control is needed for a certain type of playback, it is automatically downloaded from a secure location, the control installs itself, and then becomes available to Windows. This allows Windows to acquire new functionality by adding a small binary file, without reinstalling or restarting the operating system.

The advantage of ActiveX controls is that although they are generally downloaded and used in Internet Explorer, once they exist on your system any Windows application that understands COM can use the controls to extend their applications.

One use of this technology is embedding a functional ActiveX controlled Flash movie inside a PowerPoint presentation.

Requiring the ActiveX control

Note: Using Flash in PowerPoint requires the Flash ActiveX control to be installed on the machine which will be viewing the PowerPoint content. If that machine is using Internet Explorer 4 or higher and Internet Explorer can view Flash content then the ActiveX control is installed.

If there is any doubt if the Flash control is present it’s best to uninstall existing controls and reinstall. See How to remove the Flash Player ActiveX Control (TechNote tn_12727) for more information. After uninstalling the control, use Internet Explorer to go to http://www.adobe.com/ and automatically install the most recent version of the control.

Embedding the Flash content in PowerPoint

Once you’ve considered the handling of the ActiveX control you can add the Flash content to PowerPoint.

Open PowerPoint.

Choose View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox. This will open the ActiveX Control toolbar.

At the bottom of the Control Toolbox there is an “other controls” icon.

Select this icon to open the list of ActiveX controls installed on your machine.

Choose “Shockwave Flash Object” from the list of controls:

Choosing Shockwave Flash Object from the list of controls will change the cursor to a crosshair. Move the cursor over the slide. Click and drag to define the area the Flash movie will play in. The Flash movie can take up as much of the screen as you wish.

After creating the Flash “window”, right-click on the window. Choose “Properties” from the pop-up to open the Flash object control properties.

Choose “…” to the right of ‘Custom’ . This opens the Page Properties dialog for the Flash control.

In the Page Properties dialog enter the path or URL to the SWF you wish to use. If the SWF is in the same directory as the PowerPoint file just enter the SWF name. The SWF can also be at any valid URL network address.

The remainder of the items in the dialog are described in Chapter 13 of ‘Using Flash’ under Publishing & Exporting.

Click OK in the Property Pages. Now view the slideshow. The Flash content will play just as it does in the Flash player.
